Hydroxyzine (Anxiety & Jetlag)

Overview

Flight and travel anxiety affects a significant proportion of travelers, with studies suggesting 25–40% of passengers experience some degree of flight-related nervousness. For some, this anxiety can be severe enough to avoid air travel or significantly impair the travel experience.

Hydroxyzine works by blocking histamine H1 receptors in the brain, producing mild anxiolytic and sedative effects without the addiction potential associated with benzodiazepines. It's commonly used at a low dose (25–50 mg) 30–60 minutes before a flight or at bedtime for jet lag adjustment.
