Our safety grade combines CDC guidance, healthcare access, travel risks, and regional stability to help you prepare confidently. Updated regularly to reflect current conditions.

A (90–100): Very safe — Excellent healthcare and low travel risks
B (75–89): Safe — Minor precautions recommended
C (60–74): Moderate risk — Limited access or regional health concerns
D (40–59): Higher risk — Caution advised due to instability or health gaps
F (0–39): Not recommended — Major safety or medical concerns

Wandr Safety Rating:

C (Elevated Risk)

66/100

Uganda has specific health considerations that require preparation. Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry, and malaria is a year-round risk. The CDC also advises hepatitis A/B, typhoid, and sometimes rabies for longer stays. While Kampala has modern clinics, rural areas often lack adequate medical infrastructure. Clean water can be hard to access, so bottled or treated water is essential. Insect precautions and comprehensive travel insurance are highly recommended.
